Participating Private Hospitals

GMHBA has negotiated special agreements with the hospitals listed below. These agreements provide GMHBA private hospital cover members with cover for accommodation (shared & private room), theatre, delivery suite, intensive/coronary care and a range of services provided by the hospital (subject to any excess). For further information regarding private hospital admissions contact us.

NSW and ACT members please note that there are changes to our hospital agreement with Genea Fertility, effective close of business on 13 December 2024.

QLD members please note that UnitingCare Queensland hospitals will remain on GMHBA’s participating private hospital list.

See below map for more information.

Changes to Genea Fertility hospitals agreement impacting members in Sydney and Canberra:

Genea Fertility has indicated they will no longer have an agreement with GMHBA from close of business 13 December 2024.

This impacts the following hospitals:

  • Genea Day Surgery, Sydney NSW
  • Genea Liverpool, Liverpool NSW
  • Genea Norwest, Bella Vista NSW
  • Genea Canberra, Deakin ACT

This change will not impact any pre-booked admissions prior to this date and within six months of close of business 13 December 2024, or admissions connected to a course of treatment that started prior to 13 December 2024, but any admissions after close of business on 13 December 2024 may have greater out-of-pocket costs incurred as we will no longer pay the same level of hospital benefits. We recommend you contact us and speak with your specialist/s if you or a person covered under your health insurance policy are planning to attend one of these hospitals.

Good news regarding UnitingCare Queensland Hospitals for Queensland members:

After continued negotiations, we’re pleased to advise that our agreement with Uniting Care Queensland has been renewed and the following hospitals will remain on our participating private hospital list.

  • Wesley Hospital, Brisbane
  • St Andrew’s War Memorial Hospital, Brisbane
  • Buderim Private Hospital, Sunshine Coast
  • St Stephen’s Hospital, Hervey Bay

If you were in contact with these hospitals since we communicated proposed changes that would have come into effect on 20 November 2024, you may have been informed that you would have higher out-of-pocket costs for any care you receive after this date, or your specialist may have suggested an alternative participating hospital for care. If this is the case, we suggest you contact your specialist again to discuss options moving forward.
